#6 Carson Baker

57 Solo, 21 Assist, 1 sack, 1 FF, 1 FR, 3 INTs, 1 DEF TD

Carson is the leader of the Neepawa Defense.  As captain, he controls the scheme, assignments, and calls the defensive plays.  Farm-boy tough, his motor is always running and he doesn’t know how to back down or quit.
He’s helped develop rookies as they come through the program.  Not only does he teach them where to go, proper technique and angles, he also teaches them WHY these items are important.  It’s not a “just do it this way” method but he lays down the background and educates them on why certain things need to be done certain ways.  The “light bulb” moments are wonderful to see when it’s passed on within the team.  When he’s on the field, he’s a missile.  Off the field, he’s providing feedback to his teammates and coaching staff to help guide adjustments and reactions.  He truly understands the game.  Academically, he’s top-notch.  He has the drive, the work ethic, the physical skills and the mental prowess that everyone looks for.  When I saw the requirements for this award, no other person came to mind.  Bar none, it’s Carson.

Bryce is the emotional and motivational leader of the Neepawa Tigers Football Team.  He exemplifies positivity, heart, work ethic….all of the things you look for in leadership.  Football is the only sport he plays and he puts his heart and soul into it, whether it’s at practice or on gameday.  He’s tutored his fellow linemen, encourages and coaches younger kids to keep them involved and invested, and constantly looks for the positive reinforcement necessary to grow and learn.   You can regularly hear him on the line discussing spacing, assignments, and technique to his linemates.  As a prototypical “big man”, when he wins his OL battles, he will help the other guy up, pat them on the head, and get ready to battle again.  He doesn’t yell obscenities, understands his role in leadership, motivation, encouragement, and is a front-line tone-setter.  If of one his teammates gets injured he’s the first out to help carry him off the field.  Always up and ready to go to war, he also has a side of him that remains soft, emotional, and understanding of those around him.  If this award was made for someone, it’s Bryce.  This kid is amazing.

15 rec, 229 yds, 4 rec TD's

Ethan is a senior in his third year with the Thunder. In his sophomore season Ethan earned the nickname "The Professor" as he proved to be adept at soaking up knowledge of the play book and helping teammates with alignment and assignment. As a first year team captain this year Ethan has taken on a large leadership role and is an extension of the coaching staff at practices and on the field on gamedays. Ethan also leads by example playing with a ferocity and physicality you wouldn't assume given his stature.

27 tackles 8 assists 3 INT 3 Pass Knock Downs 1 Fumble Recovery

Wyatt is a grade 11 player with our senior team but has been involved with our program going all the way back to his u12 days. Wyatt is the glue guy that every program needs. He is the first player to step every time there is a call for a work bee, a community work day that the team helps out with, any fundraising activity. If some thing is needed to be done at the field he is the first to show up.

He has helped with coaching in our U10 and U12 programs as well as reffing as a sideline judge for our juniors team. I as coach have yet to get to the field before him for practice or game day. When I show up for games he is usually done setting up the field and helping get concession stuff ready. (a great testament to his parents for raising him the right way) Wyatt may not be the most vocal player but he leads with an example that every kid should follow with a positive, can do attitude
