Nominees 2018
Moosomin - *Calvin Murphy
Gr. 12.  Calvin has been a leader since his first days of football.  As soon as he was old enough to play, he joined.  He has always been a vocal leader, a powerful motivator and someone players on this team and our younger teams look up to.  Calvin has helped coach our Little Generals and assisted with our Bantam program when needed as well.  Active in 4H and the family cattle farm Calvin is hard working and sets that example for his teammates.  He is also human and has learned from mistakes.  This has been a tough season for us.  We knew we were in for a rebuild season but felt we had the pieces needed for a top half finish.  In losing some games there was a period of negativity that didn't help.  The coaches identified that this was not a good path.  Calvin accepted responsibility as a leader and took action.  The team has gelled better in recent weeks and is practicing like the team they should be.  Whether it results in wins is irrelevant.  They will end their season as a unified team which is most important.  Doing all the right things is easy when you are winning and everything is going your way.  Character is revealed more so when presented with adversity.  Calvin has always been a leader but the adversity this season has taught him to be a better leader, prepared to lead beyond the game.
Neepawa Tigers -  Burke Erickson
Burke is a skilled receiver who loves football. He has the same positive attitude and effort regardless of the score. Shows utmost respect to coaches, teammates, opponents, and officials. In conclusion loves football - plays it for the love of the game, is consumed and honored to be a RMFL player, and is a gentleman on and off the field.
Interlake Thunder - Cordell Sumner

A Grade 11 first year player he quickly found an important role on our Oline and became a leader and character guy for us. We like his attitude and are happy to nominate him
Picture
ParkWest Outlaws - Cole Butchka

Virden Golden Bears - Brandon Martens
Picture
Dauphin Clippers - Josh Sanderson
Josh is a grade 12 player that has played Clipper football for 4 years and knows what it means to be a member of the Clipper Family. He brings a positive attitude to every practice and every game. Josh works hard at ensuring that all members of the team are treated fairly and always encourages his team mates whether he on the field or on the bench.

Swan Valley - Damian Chernyk
Damian has been a Tger for 6 years. He started in our junior program as on defence, played some offence, was very excited to learn football and glad to come to practice with his brother. We quickly learned that Damian could hit. In his grade 9 year he played some defence but he also had an interest in playing QB and running the ball. In grade 10 our 3 year All-star QB graduated and we needed a QB. Damian stepped into that roll while still playing the odd play on defence and did very well. In Grade 10 a lot of players looked up to him because he had already been there for 4 years and played multiple positions. He enjoyed helping the juniors and helping officiate their games. He led us to the Murray Black cup that year. In grade 11 we had a grade 9 QB coming up that was much more suited to QB. Damian was a great runner and a man to try and tackle but not the best passer. Not only was he happy to pass the reigns over but he gladly showed Cody everything he had learned and worked with him. He started the first 3 games at QB in 2017 but then Cody took over at QB. He came to me and said coach, where can I help? He was playing middle linebacker already but always wanted to do more. We had a Grade 10 centre that was struggling a bit and the run game was having a tough time so Damian went to centre. That's what the team needed to be successful and he was always worried about the team and what is best for them. Again our running game got back on track and we won the Murray Black cup. Fast forward to this year. He is playing LB and Fullback for us. He is a load to bring down as well and never is taken down by the first tackler. He refuses to juke and always wants to run through the tackler. He is usually hobbling or bleeding because he is all heart and wont come off unless we carry him off the field. . He refs junior games, is the first one at practice and the last one to leave because he makes sure all equip is put away. He is the hardest worker on our team and last summer was our best recruiter. The only time he has ever missed practice is when he had drivers ed last year.
He is the heart and soul of our team and defies what it is to be a Swan Valley Tiger
